Pakistan Takes Principled Stance Supporting Iran at UN Council

Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghaddam expressed gratitude to Pakistan for voting against a resolution critical of Iran at the United Nations Human Rights Council. He said Pakistan’s decision reflects its commitment to fairness and diplomacy, with Pakistan takes a principled stance supporting Iran through this courageous action.

In his statement, the ambassador highlighted that Pakistan adopted a principled position in favor of Iran at the UN Human Rights Council. By voting against the resolution, Pakistan demonstrated adherence to international law and respect for national sovereignty.

Ambassador Moghaddam praised the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar for guiding Pakistan’s efforts in taking a balanced and responsible position on this matter.

He further stated that Iran’s challenges, including 12 days of aggression, externally supported unrest, and attempts to misuse international platforms, were unsuccessful. The ambassador noted that the unjust political and diplomatic actions against Iran faced their third consecutive setback due to Pakistan’s support.

Concluding his remarks, Ambassador Moghaddam reiterated that Pakistan takes a principled stance supporting Iran, emphasizing that Pakistan’s backing reflects justice, human rights, multilateralism, and national sovereignty. He noted that Iran will always remember this principled and consistent support with appreciation.
